From the beginning of Fall 2015 to now in Spring 2016, I have been on an incredible journey through the Music Program at Hocking College. Through all the fun, all the laughs, and the amazing work performed by the teachers there, I have to say that I have learned a lot and have enjoyed every minute of it.Though it is the end of my first year, it is the beginning of a new turning point into the next year at this school. Now it is time to reflect on the aspiring accomplishments that not only me, but many others at this school have been able to do.
First on the list is the photography shoot for the Interactive Multimedia class. This was a very fun and interesting learning experience. It challenged me because I didn't have any experience in camera or photography at all. I feel this was an accomplishment in my book because I learned different techniques that would aid me in other classes as well.
Second in this list is the Justin Dowler session. This project was a challenge because I had never worked with another talent other than myself before. The pressure of trying to get that "right" sound out of a recording was really cool. Not only was the talent great but the quality of the recording turned out better that I could have ever thought. Please click on the hyperlink to listen to the song.
Third was our 20th Century Music History project. In this assignment we talked about the different music in the world. It is amazing at how much diversity and similarity that all the music in the world has. We not only learned about the culture, but the instruments as well (that's the part I liked the most). Please click on this link as well to see this project.
Last was our music video shoot. I cannot provide the video until I release the music to be sold. However I can provide a picture. This was the hardest and most challenging. From the editing, to the filming, and even getting the talent to pay attention when we were all having too much fun, this project proved to be a worthy opponent. However, by God's grace we all finished our videos and they all turned out incredible.
In the end, I am very happy with my first year at Hocking. The projects were a challenge, the tests were hard, and the fabulous support from others (including God) were all a deciding factor in getting me through this awesome year. Now, I'm glad for a little rest. Still, I can't wait for next year and even more fun!!
